2023 Tea for Teeth
2023 Tea for Teeth
Nothing you wear is more important than your smile, and yet the impacts of oral disease are significant but often overlooked.
The impact of oral disease on people’s everyday lives is subtle and pervasive, influencing eating, sleep, work and social roles. The prevalence and recurrences of these impacts are a silent epidemic.
Tea for Teeth is an easy and fun way to raise money to make a big difference to Australia’s oral health. Our recent research into the mental health of Australian dental practitioners found that 1 in 6 Australian dental practitioners reported thoughts of suicide in the past 12 months and that 5.6% reported ever making a suicide attempt. Healthy connections with friends, family and colleagues are known to lower levels of anxiety and depression and raise self-esteem. Take the time to connect over a cuppa as part of Tea for Teeth. Improving mental health of dental practitioners is important for their wellbeing, patient outcomes and public health.
How it works
1. Register to host a Tea for Teeth
Register online, email or call 03 8825 4600, and we’ll send or email you a free Host Guide.
2. Plan your tea
Choose a date to host your morning or afternoon tea during Dental Health Week (7-13 August) or anytime in August and decide if you’ll do a virtual event or a small gathering. Send out your invitations and start planning what teeth friendly treats you’ll enjoy.
3. Time for tea and fundraising
Whether you have chosen to host an intimate tea or a virtual one with your colleagues, a catch up over a cuppa and teeth friendly treats will be tea-rrific! Swap recipes, have a bake-off or deliver some tasty treats beforehand. Play some games, or just take a sip towards making a difference to the oral and general health of Australians. Remember, every dollar you raise will help us to translate oral health research into better general health for all Australians.
Please note: Tea for Teeth can only be held in VIC, TAS, SA, QLD, NSW and WA.
