Dental Practice Based Research Network (DPBRN) Committee

The eviDent DPBRN® Committee encourages the conduct of evidence-based dental practice in Victoria by:

  • Supporting collaborative practice-based dental research that makes a difference to health outcomes and experiences of care in areas in which the network has expertise and experience;
  • Providing practices with the opportunity to engage in research, and access research expertise and other development opportunities;
  • Providing researchers with access to practitioners’ expertise and a practice base; and
  • Actively disseminating research network findings to network members and to relevant policy-makers.

eviDent Foundation is Australia’s first Dental Practice-Based Research Network (DPBRN).

Our mission: Translating oral health research into better general health for all Australians

To achieve these objectives, eviDent®:

  • Supports dental practice-based research into dental and oral disease
  • Provides information about dental and oral disease, their prevention and control, to sufferers, health professionals and the public
  • Develops or provides relevant aids and equipment to sufferers of dental and oral disease
  • Conducts and promotes scientific research about how to detect, prevent or treat dental and oral disease
  • Trains health professionals to conduct scientific research about dental and oral disease
  • Evaluates health programs and processes to prevent or control dental and oral disease
  • Trains health professionals and carers in methods of controlling dental and oral disease
  • Develops and implements cooperative and cross-disciplinary approaches to the treatment and prevention of dental and oral disease

eviDent research leads directly to improved treatment outcomes for patients, and addresses the connection between oral and general health.

eviDent Foundation was established in 2011 as a health-promotion charity supporting Australia’s only Dental Practice-Based Research Network (DPBRN). It is an initiative of the Australian Dental Association Victorian Branch Inc. and the Oral Health Cooperative Research Centre.

eviDent® aims to encourage relationships between practitioners and academic researchers. By building research capacity to produce and use evidence, eviDent facilitates and supports dental practices to produce and disseminate evidence that can translate into practice and inform policy.

eviDent® research leads directly to improved treatment outcomes for patients, and addresses the connection between oral and general health.
